Bond Construction Update

The following is a tentative bond project schedule for Lowell Area Schools.  This schedule may change depending on outcome of the bids and other reasons beyond our control.  Planning for each of the large projects began over a year ago.  The planning phase included staff input, community forums, design development, construction meetings, and state approval.  Completion of these projects require tight timelines, as much of the work will be done when students are not in session.  This is a living document that will change as projects are started and completed.

Estimated completion noted below.

  • Five classroom addition - completed
  • Updated security vestibule - completed
  • Covered entrance - completed
  • Outside storage (including restroom) - completed
  • Enclose three classrooms and create exit corridor - Winter 2021
  • Install air conditioning - as of November 9, 2020 installation is underway

Work continues to provide air conditioning to all Bushnell classrooms.  High efficiency boilers were installed last summer.  Renovations have been completed on three Bushnell classrooms.  Three additional classrooms are expected to be complete by spring break.  All Bushnell classrooms will have air conditioning by the time school starts in the fall.

The entire roof at Cherry Creek was replaced last summer with upgrades to the make-up air unit.  That unit improves the air quality in the building.  A secure vestibule was also completed so that people who enter the building are now directed into the office.  The roof project was completed using funds from the Sinking Fund.

The new entrance for buses off Lally Street was completed in September and has improved traffic congestion.  New high efficiency lighting was installed over the summer.

A secure vestibule has been installed at the entrance and updates have been made to the gymnasium.  The most significant renovation was the removal of the stage in the gym.  This gives the gymnastics program a safer environment for practices.

Excavation for the new soccer and lacrosse stadium will begin on April 1st.  The summer of 2021 will be a busy upgrading the tennis, baseball, softball facilities as well as the area for field events behind the current stadium.
