Our trails are open 365 days a year, dawn till dusk, for your hiking enjoyment. What are you waiting for? Come out and visit us today!

Are you a teacher looking for a great field trip destination? Well look no further then the WWC. With the rise in fuel costs, schools are looking for field trip destinations close to home. Luckily the WWC is just a frog's jump away from Lowell and the greater Grand Rapids area! Bring your students out to the WWC for a day of hands-on learning in the out of doors. Our knowledgeable staff will work with your students to introduce, build upon and/or reinforce topics discussed in the classroom such as plants, animal life cycles and ecosystems.

Hop, crawl or slighter on in for an animal adventure in search of frogs, toads, salamanders, turtles and snakes! Young herpetologists will explore the creek, study the forest floor and roll logs in search of our cold-blooded friends. Eat like salamanders, sing like frogs and hop like toads! You'll be "hoppy" you came!

Bees and Beekeeping Camp

1:00 - 4:00 pm

Campers entering 3rd-5th grade in the fall of 2014

Bee-amazed and get the latest buzz on honeybees! Discover their life cycle, explore their jobs in and out of the hive, decipher the waggle dance, grasp their contribution to agriculture and why they only sting once. Be "busy as a bee" by becoming a beekeeper - suit up in protective clothing to visit the onsite apiary, learn how to use a smoker and hive tools, examine frames for the brood chamber and honey comb, reveal where the queen is hiding in the colony and harvest honey for taste-testing. Each day will fly by with new adventures including trekking the trails, creative crafts, guessing games and science slueth experiments.
